The Lab Model

The Lab Model at Perry Street Prep

Every student gets direct, individualized instruction PK3-8th grade through our Lab Model. This means that every student gets grade-level content, and differentiated content in a smaller lab setting during the week.

Our PK3-8 model is specifically designed to establish a strong academic/educational foundation through a research- and standards-based curriculum. From the earliest age, we are focused on preparing our students for the rigors of high school and college. Our population includes students from across the city with diverse learning needs, which includes children who have been identified as in need of Special Education and English Language Learning services.

How does the Lab Model Work:

- Every student receives grade-level content

- Classes are then broken into smaller groups for ELA Lab and Math Labs

- Each student gets individualized/differentiated content during labs

- Labs have a 1:3 or 1:5 Teacher to Student Ratio

- Labs can be interventions or accelerations depending on the group
