Title I

Perry Street Prep is the recipient of federal Title I moneys as part of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA). Title I money is used solely to help ensure that children, regardless of family income, have the opportunity to obtain a quality education and become academically proficient.

Perrry Street Prep implements a Title I Schoolwide Program model. A school is eligible to become a Title I Schoolwide Program if 40% or more of the students qualify for free or reduced lunch. Eligible schools are permitted to use Title I, Part A funds in combination with state and local resources and other federal education program funds to upgrade the entire educational program of the school to raise the academic achievement of all students.

Perry Street funds initiatives to improve students reading and math achievement with Title I funding. For the 2019-2020 school year the school is continuing to  focus on improving student outcomes on state tests in reading and math, enhancing the home-school connection, and improving achievement in early-childhood grades of K-2 through reduced class sizes and additional staffing to support instructional delivery and planning.

Parents are a critical voice in shaping the school's Title I efforts. Each year the school seeks parent input on the Title I plan. Additionally, a schoolwide survey is conducted to garner parent feedback.  Parents are invited to provide feedback throughout the year by contacting the Director of Operations, Kelly Smith, [email protected].
