Test Score Gains at Perry Street Prep Public Charter School Reflect Its Rapid Rise

The Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) scores of this

dynamic school indicate high student proficiency increases in Academic Year (AY) 2015-2016

compared to the previous academic year:
  • 4+ ELA scores increased over two and a half times
  • 3+ ELA scores increased by nearly two-thirds
  • 3+ math scores increased by nearly two-thirds
  • 4+ math scores increased over five-fold
  • Pre-K literacy rate of 93.2 percent
  • Pre-K math proficiency rate of 86.5 percent
  • Pre-K reading proficiency rates increased by over 60 percent
This tremendous upward movement in our student’s scores across all grades reflect Perry Street

Prep’s rigorous academic instruction and our strong learning environment,” states School

Principal Rachel Crouch. “Our student readiness is a testament to our dynamic growth and model

toward excellence. We are on the move and excited for continued greatness ahead.”

The significant advancements in Pre-K early childhood literacy and proficiency in math and

reading is a tribute to the school’s effective partnership with AppleTree, which began in August

2015 and serves over 80 students. The school’s overall student to teacher ratio of 15:1 is another

key factor in Perry Street Prep’s vast growth over the last academic year.

“From the earliest age, our school’s curriculum focuses on preparing students for the rigors of

college. Our test scores reflect the high standards we set for our community, and the notable

improvements made are the result of our wonderful students, teachers, parents, school leaders

and staff,” says Cynthia Brown, chair of the Perry Street Prep Board of Trustees.
