Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Perry Street Prep seeks a part-time Human Resources Manager to manage and administer all aspects of human resources for school employees. The school employees approximately 50 employees. The Human Resources Manager’s schedule can be flexible, but s/he must be available to work approximately 20 hours per week during operating hours (8 am – 4 pm). The Human Resources Manager will report to the Director of Operations and be responsible for the following duties:

  • Manage all aspects of employee benefits including identifying and securing all benefit programs and brokers, benefit administration, and employee enrollment. Current benefit programs include: workers compensation, unemployment insurance, short/long term disability, life insurance, SMART benefits, retirement, and healthcare/dependent care flexible spending accounts.
  • Serve as the point of contact for all benefits related matters.
  • Administers annual open enrollment process for medical, dental and vision insurance and healthcare/dependent care flexible spending accounts.
  • Process bi-weekly payroll.
  • Research and develop all policies related to human resources and personnel matters.
  • Manage recruitment of prospective employees and termination of employees, when needed.
  • Serve as point of contact for all HR matters including processing incident reports for employees.
  • Manage employee tracking systems including time sheets and leave.
  • Facilitate onboarding of all new employees including processing all employment paperwork.
  • Respond to employee requests for information regarding Human Resources policies and procedures.
  • Complete all required employee-related reports for external parties. Maintain employee personnel files.
  • Process employment verification requests.
  • Provide general operations support as assigned by the Director of Operations.

    Qualifications

    Perry Street Prep is seeking an Human Resources Manager with the following education and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required; a concentration in Human Resources or other related field of study is preferred.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in operations, business, administration, human resources or education.
  • General knowledge of employment law, employment related practices, and HR best practices.
  • Strong administrative skills with excellent organization and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and responsibilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills as demonstrated by compassionate, courteous, cordial, cooperative, and professional interaction with co-workers, visitors, vendors, and key stakeholders, and members of the community.
  • Comfort using Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, and customized databases including ADP.
